I also fell for the 'free' offer. Was billed $189.95. I spoke with them the minute I saw it on my credit card bill, and they promised a full refund within 2 weeks. After 2 weeks, I called back. Refund was promised within 72 hours. Called back after 72 hours, promised 72 hours again. Went through this another 2 times. Talked to them last Friday and they said they were putting in an 'emergency 24 hour refund', but of course they didn't. How do these people stay in business?

It seems that I, too, as careful as I am, am a victim of the Video Professor scam. I ordered the EBay discs and was billed 189.95 twice on my credit card and sent 2 other sets that I neither wanted or asked for. This seems to be what happened to all the others reporting here. I am contacting the Better Business Bureau and telling everyone I know NEVER to buy anything from these scam artists. What a shame! laura

In my case, I responded to the infomercial by going online and placing the order for my "free" course. Should I have read the fine print? Of course. However, I have gone back over the transcript of the infomercial and it clearly and repeatedly says that it is giving away a course "for free." There is no indication that it is a "trial" offer and absolutely no indication that I will be signing up for a subscription to other courses. The infomercial is so insistent upon the use of the word "free" that I can perhaps be excused for being outraged to find out that nothing in this offer is free. I'm sending the courses back today - unused. I've been promised that the charges to my credit card will be reversed 10-15 days after they receive the returned courses. We'll see ... As I told the rep I spoke to on the phone, this is an unethical and reprehensible way to do business. I am convinced that it is also fraudulent. If you have a good product that is fairly priced, why do you need to resort to such tactics? VP should be ashamed and, if they don't change the way they do business, they should be prosecuted.

I ordered and received the product in December 2008, and was billed approx 189.00. I called and returned the package according to the instructions, but have not received a refund. I was told that they received the returned package on December 27. 2008 and that it would be 10-15 days before I will receive a refund. I asked why the 10-15 day period to receive refund and was told that it was just policy. This advertising practice of offering something for free when it is not free should be stopped.

I do own the product, but fortunately, I have not tried it. This really pisses me off!!! When I ordered my Ebay program, I wsan't even made aware that there was a subscription or anything else to pay. There was absolutely nothing there to warn me. It put my account in the red. I have contacted my bank, but who knows what it will take to get this resolved.

On 12/10/08 I ordered the Video Professor Excel Program with the promise of a free digital camera. Thinking I had read all the important details I agreed to pay the $1.00 for what I thought was a test trial, but low and behold on 12/29/08 I saw a charge of $189.95 on my checking account. It is a good thing I looked because I was understanding that the charge was not to be made for 30 days after the date of purchase, giving me time to return it should I not want it. I didn't even put a disc into my computer because I finally read the fine print that was nicely tucked inside the disk box. People BEWARE, that has always been my motto, but who would think someone like Video Professor would scam people over so badly. Would you believe it, when I called and spoke with [] today, he had the audacity to try to sell me four (4) more items because he didn't want me to cancel. What kink of company is so stupid to do that to an irate customer that is calling to cancel their account? DUH This company sucks and I will be writing to the BBB and also speak with a lawyer to see what my options could possibly be. If you got sucked into this like so many other people call your bank and cancel your debit card so you won't keep getting scammed again. Don't have to close the account, just your debit card. I am a truly dissatisfied customer and will never do business with them again and I certainly will tell people I know all about the scams.

I first got the RA number to return the eBay product. I waited a month for my money and then started calling them. I got one lie after another about how they would refund my money right away. In my final call, I spoke with a supervisor who said "I wish I knew" when I asked her why they had never done what they promised. It was only after contacting the Colorado Better Business Bureau, who then contacted Video Professor, that I got my money. Makes you wonder about all the people who never really try to get their money back. For more information about the Video Professor, you can search [] for john sherer.

After 2 months and numerous phone calls I finally got to a supervisor, Nick, he said, on Saturday. I was told the 189.95 would be refunded into my account within 72 business hours. I just check my on-line banking and the finally refunded. When I talked to Nick, I told him I was going to contact the Attorney General here in Oklahoma and also the fraud unit in Colorado. I'm guessing that is why after 2 months of phone calls they refunded.

I can sucked in, too. Read the info above before I called and it helped. I told them upfront I was recording the conversation. I got put on hold and could then hear people in the background (talking about rubbing their neck!) during the remainder of the conversation. I put the call on speaker and had a recorder. They were not rude. I got authorization to return the products. They actually tried to sell me other products twice. They told me 10-15 days to receive the credit. I'll check starting then and let you know. Thanks to the website.

A friend of mine had the seemingly normal experience. He's not a computer buff at all, but wanted the e-bay program the bald guy has been hawking lately, since he's a yard sale freak, with more miscellaneous stuff to sell than most commercial enterprises. He did finally get the subsequent and very rapid $189 additional amount reversed, and paid only for the e-bay material, which was all he wanted in the first place. He also had noted the commercial clearly indicating the guy's expectation/hope that one would want further product, but not that it would be so automatic or rapid. Probably no doubt the fine print, rapid talk in initial material do indicate oblquely the added materials, but like nearly all these infomercials, including seeming those with all Billy Mays' wares, the cheap initial or base price is headlined/screamed, while the fine print is very low-key and vague. The real crime is the rapidity with which all these outfits extract a lot of money from callers' credit card accounts, but are difficult to reach and arrange adjustments, and told these can take perhaps 2 months (and often in a discouteous manner). One is dealing with a very biased system, and at best will require frustation and delays to get adjustment - from folks who obviously have the skills to do better, based upon their billing systems, which are examples of maximum efficiency.

Ordered Video Professor Nov.26, 2008. My story is like previous. I thought that the $6.95 s&h fee was it. I was wrong. Three weeks later and at $189.95 out of account. Never again will I order from Video Professor. All I wanted was a brush on some computer skills. It is cheaper in the long run to take extra classes at the local community college. Hopefully I can get my money back. Lesson learned!

I tried thier product and it was very simple teaching, but on the date I was to return the product I couldn't get through, so I waited the following day, was told that I was charged, $189 already, and sure enough it showed up on my CC. I told them I didn't want it, I got my return # and sent a disk back. I waited and no refuned after a week, I called Video Professor and was told that it takes 6-8 weeks to get a refund, I asked WHY, the girl told me its because of the banking takes so long.. BOGUS.. I'm on the phone now with them and speeking with Emily, was told that it was approved on 12-4 and I should havae gotten it. Well I haven't. and now being told it should go through in 3-5 days... YEAH RIGHT...

My tale reads just like all of the others on this site! I ordered the free EBAY lesson, was told that the first part was free, and that I could try the other two parts for $189.95. Then, the sales person started with the We'll send you, on approval, other lessons each month which you can review and return if you don't want them. I said Do NOT send me any other lessons, I will be happy to contact you if you have a good product, and I need other lessons. Well...they immediately billed my credit card $189.95 for the free part of the EBAY lesson and the other two parts which I was supposed to have on approval. They then, in 20 days, sent, and billed me for, some other random lesson. When I contacted them to returm all of the materials, they were quite rude, but eventually gave me return authorization codes and said that they would refund my money in 6 to 8 weeks. It has been well more than 2 months, no return. I cannot get a customer service rep. on the phone. I am disputing the charges through my credit card, but they are saying I waited too long to dispite the charges! Moral of the story these guys are the biggest rip I have ever dealt with! Do NOT try their product! Tell all your friends and neighbors!

I recently orfered the video for e-bay which was suppose to be free and now they are charging me 189.95 and when trying to contact the company they say all of their service people are busy and other recordings so you can not talk to a real person.

Wendy - their number is 800-525-7763. They may be legal but they certainly seem to try to trick people. When I called I was told I had had 10 days to return the free product or it was mine for the $189! Normally the ten days will run out before you ever see the billing on your credit card statement (in fact, I suspect they don't make the charge for 10 days so that when you see it, it's too late). I was then told that on one of the pages inside one of the booklets that came with the software (that I hadn't even opened as it was to be a Christmas gift for a friend) it supposedly advised me I had 10 days to return/cancel. Moreover, it apparently went on to say that if I didn't cancel I would be put on their continuity program and get a new lesson/subject every month - for another $189! In fact, my 2nd package came in about 15 days. With all the CDs they have, at $189 a program you could probably have a year at business school for less money! To their (initial) credit, they did say I could return the programs for a full refund. I did that and have USPS confirmation they were received back in Denver on December 1. It's now 26 days later and there has yet to be any credit posted to my credit card account. The way these people do business is clearly misleading and certainly distasteful. No matter how good their software might be they don't appear to be the type of people I'd want to do business with. Good luck getting your money back.

I ordered Excel for free. I keep getting billed for $189.00 over and over. I'm trying to contact the company without luck. Anyone have the number?

ALL I PAID WAS 6.95 thats it. Plus .45 for a stamp! I LOVE VIDEO PROFESSOR the lesson actually helped me get a new job!

I recieved the wrong cd, I called Video Prof. and they agreed to send the right one, then debited my bank account for $189 for disks I did not order, and another $6.95 for the replacement disks! I called, the rep was rude and I told her to cancel my account and not send me the disks, she said they are already sent out and that I had to mail a disk back to them for reimbursement for 189 plus the extra $6.95 for the replacement disks. This is totally unfair tacticssince it was their mistake to begin with. This is deceptive and if I do not get my money back I will contact authorities. They debited my account right away, why cant they UN-debit (return) to my account right away?
